Whitewater is independent, and offers a confidential and impartial service providing advice on water quality requirements, legal and safety aspects, environmental impact considerations, process design and equipment procurement. Whitewater can also undertake confidential development work at both laboratory and pilot plant scale, backed up by a comprehensive analytical service.

The practice has close links with academia via the Centre for Water Sciences at Cranfield University, UCL, Brunel University and UNESCO IHE, its managing director, Richard Hill, is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over thirty years' experience in water including R&D, commissioning, design, sales and training.
